We are happy and proud that Ovako has once again been nominated as a "Career Company" 2025. This nomination is not only a recognition of our work at the corporate level but also a testament to the efforts being made locally at our sites in Hofors, Hällefors, Smedjebacken, Boxholm, and Hallstahammar.
Local Initiatives for Employee Development
Over the past year, we have focused on strengthening our workplaces through several initiatives. For example, we launched new trainee programs for young talents, focusing on both technical and personal development. These programs have not only helped us attract new employees but also provided our experienced leaders the opportunity to act as mentors and share their valuable knowledge.
We have also further developed our leadership training programs and created local networks to enhance collaboration among employees. A concrete example is the "Future Leaders" mentorship program, where we identify and support employees who wish to take the next step in their careers. These efforts not only strengthen our team but also help ensure the future skills needed in our local communities.
A Workplace for Everyone
At all our facilities, we actively work to create an inclusive work environment where every employee feels valued and involved. In Hofors, for instance, we have had success with initiatives to increase workplace gender equality, while Boxholm recently introduced a program to enhance the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth start at the company.
We also make sure that our sustainability efforts are visible to our employees, as this is something we know engages many of them. Working at Ovako means being part of a company that already uses 97% recycled materials and has a carbon footprint 80% lower than the industry average—something that makes us proud.
Positive Impact on Our Communities
We know that our facilities are important to our local communities, and we are therefore pleased that our efforts also have ripple effects. New investments, such as the rebuilt furnace in Boxholm, which halves our emissions, and the development of sustainable production in Hofors, not only strengthens our position as a leader in sustainable steel but also contributes to local employment and regional development.
Moving Forward Together
For those of us working locally, it is clear that Ovako’s success is the result of the collective efforts of all our employees. Together, we are not only creating steel for a decarbonized society—we are also building a workplace and a future where everyone can shine and develop.
Welcome to join us on this journey—locally and globally!
