What attracted you to Ovako?
As a salesperson, several factors contribute:
Strong owners = Security.
International company = Opportunity for development.
World-leading products = The privilege of sitting with the customer and feeling confident that we as a company will be able to deliver and meet the customer’s requirements.
Ovako's values = It’s important for me to feel pride and connection with the company I represent. With Ovako, this all came together! Plus, we are the best in the world in terms of our CO2e/ton of steel, which made the attraction even stronger.
How hard could it really be to be a salesperson for Ovako with these values in place, I thought? A product that should sell itself!
What does a typical workday look like for you?
The end of the year is always the most intense. New agreements must be negotiated for the coming year. The customer almost always expects a price reduction, while we expect a price increase. In other words, a lot of dialogue and negotiation is required to reach an agreement.
When it's not price negotiations, it's other customer and internal activities. This could be customer visits, either at the customer’s site or when the customer visits our operations. Strategic meetings with customers, internal and external workshops, etc.
What is the most fun part of your job?
Working strategically and building relationships and synergies with the customer and between our different manufacturing and sales units. Then, using these synergies to win new business together is especially enjoyable!
What do you do when you're not working at Ovako?
For me, exercise has always been important, with strength training as the foundation for my well-being. This time of year, I also do quite a bit of cross-country skiing. In the Sales Team SUS (Sales Unit Scandinavia), we have a tradition of participating in the Staffetvasan relay race. It’s a tough competition for spots, so to secure one, you must train hard!
I have two children of my own and two stepchildren, so every other week we have four kids at home, and the following week, it’s just me and my partner. When it’s the kids' week, it’s full speed ahead with activities like football, floorball, gymnastics, and jujutsu.
